Island Open Mike
If you like good music in a good bar and friendly
atmosphere
OPEN MIKE at COOK ISLAND, MULLACOTT CROSS, ILFRACOMBE
is the place to be on a Thursday evening.
Every Thursday Mike, Clive, and Jennie
run an Open Mike Night. The evening started
about 3 years ago to give the opportunity to
performers of all types of music and ages to
practise their performance skills in front of
a very supportive audience without the pressure
of gigging. Performers and members of the audience
come from as far a field as Torrington, South
Molton, Bideford and Combe Martin plus many
of the smaller villages close to Cook Island.
Just Jamming
The evening commences with the Houseband (AVERAGE
BLUES BAND) and then progresses with a real
cross section of musicians ranging from unaccompanied
solo singers and unplugged acoustic duos, to
definitely plugged bands. No two Thursdays are
the same.

The age range moves from 10yrs to 70 yrs and
on many occasions there is a real cross section
of all ages performing at one time. The band
will provide backing for performers if wanted,
and there is an excellent sound mixing system
for all to use, (thanks to SOUNDPAD a local
based Music emporium).

early arrival is a must.
