THE AVERAGE BLUES
BAND
( Mike Court , Clive Robins, Ian Gilbert, Jordan
Vickery)
Enthusiastic and up-beat electric blues from
a talented 4-piece who are out to enjoy the
performance
as much as the audience - appreciate the music
or just “dance the blues away”
Biogs
Mike played guitars in a Midlands based band
for 14 years, supporting many of the big names
of the
1970’s and traveling all over the country.
After “retiring” from live performance
he says he was “sucked
back in” after various open mike appearances
in the late 1990s.How many different guitars
can one person use on stage?
Clive was a well known figure in Devon based
bands in the late 1960/70 s before giving it
all up for college and a career. He was also
drawn back into music with the resurgence of
open mike venues in the area. Clive leads the
rock and roll lifestyle to the full - note the
flask of coffee and bottles of water next to
his amp….
Ian started playing piano in Oxford pubs at
the age of 15, then progressing through New
Orleans and jazz genres with various bands before
moving to North Devon. After performing solo
gigs for a while before joining the band ,Ian
was looking for a more varied musical role –so
we now let him have two keyboards on stage …
Ian has an ambition to play piano in every country
in the world and so far has notched up 12 -
but hasn’t given up yet.
Jordan is the “baby” of the band
and was “adopted “by the boys after
a promising start playing drums with various
school and local covers bands. Jordan is a talented
and versatile young drummer and always eager
to push the boundaries. We are not saying he
has big feet but his shoe size is also used
as a gauge for the overall length of canal barges!
Songs from the likes of JJ Cale, Peter Green,
Keb Mo, Clapton and Mayall as well as the more
traditional tunes, all get THE AVERAGE BLUES
BAND treatment - to give you a red hot, up beat
performance, guaranteed to get you up out of
your seats and dancing the night away.
